Stroll through the narrow streets, along the canals and watch how carriages make the spectacle perfect. Highly recommended is the view from the Belfry, a medieval bell tower. The Holy Blood Basilica is worth a visit, as it is the oldest sacred building in the city. The most famous and popular photo opportunity of the city can be found at Rozenhoedkaai. From here you have a wonderful view of the canals and the back of the Holy Blood Basilica.
The next stop takes you to another country at the same time: Le Havre in France. Le Havre is the largest city in Normandy and the second largest seaport in France. Since about 80% of the city was destroyed in World War II, today you will find a modern city centre, which has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2005 due to the extraordinary postwar architecture.
Lisbon is also a popular city on a Western Europe cruise. The Portuguese capital scores with year-round average temperatures of over 20 degrees. In addition, the melancholy, slightly dilapidated city exudes an unforgettable charm. The city is located on seven hills, but with the historic tram, these are easily manageable. Catch a ride on number 28 to experience a spectacular ride through the narrow streets. Get off at the Castelo stop and walk a few minutes directly to Sao Jorge Castle. A wonderful view of the old town and the red bridge Ponte 25 de Abril and the famous statue Cristo do Rei awaits you. You should not miss the architecturally impressive Jeronimos Monastery with its beautiful courtyard. The building, which was almost completely preserved in the 1755 earthquake, is today a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Let’s not forget the fantastic beaches on offer! Visit the beach Carcavelos, where not only swimmers but also surfers get their money's worth.
